Reset All Filters in your Dashboards easily!
Today we’re going to look at a Reset All Filters button, which is far easier to create than you might think.
Experienced Power BI users may use a variety of slicers to filter the data in their dashboards, but traditionally there’s no way to undo applying all of these quickly. That changes today.
Create a Button
Creating a button is the first step as you might imagine.
To do this, create a rectangle shape and add an Action to the shape. You may also add some text using a text box to make it clear what the button is for.
Set up a Bookmark
The key here is to utilise Bookmarks, which are a standard feature in Power BI.
For our purposes, we need to ensure that all of the slicers in our dashboard are set to All, or whatever the state of the dashboard is that you’d like to be classed as Reset.
When this is in place, head to View and Bookmarks, then click Add. You might also want to rename this new bookmark to make it clear that it’s a Reset state.
Finally, ensure that the Data option is ticked on the 3 dot options bar at the right side of the Bookmark.
Link the Button to the Bookmark
At this point, head back to your rectangle shape and under the Action menu that you’ve already activated, on the Type dropdown, choose Bookmark. On the Bookmark dropdown that appears underneath, choose your bookmark that you’ve just created.
And that’s it!
It really is as simple as that!
Hopefully this has helped, and happy dashboarding!
